One of the many things that people like about being in a small church is the sense of family. Something a little close-knit than a community which many large churches seem to relate.
There are many similarities between small, medium, and large churches during the Christmas season.
- Holiday decorations
- Candlelight Christmas Eve service
- Gifts to church staff (at a minimum the pastor)
- A general feeling of love, joy, hope, and peace.
- and the list could continue…
One thing that the small church has that large churches do not, is an easy way to exchange Christmas cards. I have to admit that I am not a big Christmas card enthusiast. I generally do not mail Christmas cards, not even to close relatives. I do receive a few, but this year that number grew exponentially as I once again was a part of a small church. Knowing that there would be an area to put Christmas cards for fellow church members, we purchased Christmas cards and went through the church directory assigning cards to those within.
While it may seem like a small gesture, these are the things that help build community, a sense of family, a bond between members and attenders. These are the things unique to the small church.
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for being a part of the small church kidmin community.
